About the Fur
Alpacas are one of Peru’s national and protected animals, and it is illegal to kill an alpaca just for its fur. Alpacas are also very valuable for their owners, as their wool is highly prized, evolved as it is for incredibly harsh high-mountain winter conditions. But these very conditions cause significant numbers of animals to die each winter. Our slippers are made from the skins that the herdsmen collect from the winter cull.
